| MEET THE AWF STAFF: Scott Garlid, Executive Director Scott embarked on a "2nd career" in conservation in 2016 following a 30-year career with Intel Corporation. His first conservation pursuit was working for Trout Unlimited to restore native trout including Arizona's Gila trout and the recently delisted Apache trout. He was then a Wyss Fellow advocating for public lands with a focus on what has now become the Baaj Nwaavjo I'tah Kukveni Grand Canyon National Monument. He joined the Arizona Wildlife Federation in 2018 and has been the Executive Director since 2020. In addition to protecting wildlife habitat and access to public lands, Scott is interested in creating economic incentives and public-private partnerships that support conservation. He is a board member with the Montezuma Land Conservancy, a land trust in Southwest Colorado, and serves on the Investment Committee of Ecotrust Forest Management pursuing innovative approaches to climate-smart forestry. When he's not working in conservation, Scott can be found enjoying the outdoors with family and friends in Arizona, on the lakes in his home state of Minnesota, or in the San Juan mountains near his cabin in Colorado. |
