Bridges to BOW
Through Bridges to BOW, young women from diverse, under-represented, BIPOC, and/or other underserved communities learn about, register for, and attend a BOW Program
AWF’s Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) program has proven to be a successful way to introduce the outdoors and all its wonders to the women of Arizona. However, while BOW is a great learning opportunity, many young women from diverse communities in Arizona don’t even know that the program exists. For some who may have heard of BOW, the opportunity can seem out of reach. Registration fees, lack of experience, or the hesitancy to try something new can all serve as barriers to young women wanting to gain experience in the outdoors. Bridges to BOW exists to break these barriers and serve as a bridge to Becoming an Outdoors-Woman.
"Attending Bridges to B.O.W was the jump start I needed to really have confidence and begin enjoying the outdoors. During my first B2B experience, I took classes on backpacking, gun safety, and wild skills. Watching the instructors and asking questions in a safe non-judgmental environment was exactly what I needed."
