Join us for our next All Afield Hike with AWF at the Rogers Lake County Natural Area in Flagstaff! This unique area boasts diverse habitats, including wetlands, grasslands, Ponderosa pine, and Gambel oak forests. During the wet seasons, the ephemeral lake transforms into a haven for migratory waterfowl, with thousands stopping over to feed in the shallow waters. While there won't be much water there now, the late summertime often brings large herds of elk descending from Woody Ridge to graze in the lakebed at dawn and dusk, offering an incredible wildlife viewing experience.
During the hike, we will utilize the mobile apps iNaturalist and Merlin to identify all sorts of flora and fauna in the area! Whether you live in the area or farther away, the weather for this hike should be lovely and in the mid-70s.
This event is on an accessible trail and is family-friendly, dog-friendly, and suitable for all ages. Happy Hiking!
